Writers as Witness: Pen, Paper and Palate Tonight

How It’s New York:  These events are the brain child of Ruda Beresford Dauphin, a New Yorker who is not Irish, but is deeply involved with film and the arts.
How It’s Irish:  The writers are Irish and it takes place at the Half King, one of New York’s nicest Irish pubs.

I reported on the last of these events and expect big things from this one too– stay tuned for a write-up.  The event is free but reservation only.  On the other hand, you could always go to the pub and eavesdrop, and/or hope someone doesn’t show up!  When I worked at Law & Order, which is down in that neighborhood, we sometimes ordered lunch from Half King.  The Champagne sorbet is worth the trip alone to 23rd and 10th (yep, down by Chelsea Piers).  The pub is owned by filmmaker Sebastian Jungr, and the food is prepared by Executive Chef Gregory Baumel.

Most art is better with food.  And listening to great writers while you sip a good pint makes the whole thing so homey.  Better.
