NJ Irish American Writer/Artist Salon in Morristown–JOIN US!

How It’s New York: This is a regional branch of the Irish American Writers and Artists, a NYC organization, in parternship with the Irish American Cultural Institute.
How It’s Irish: it is for Irish and Irish-Americans, the writing and topics often take on Irish themes, too, and this one is being run by Irish-American Mike Farragher, who blogs for this site and writes for the Irish Voice.
Have you read about the IAWA Salons in the wonderful wrap-ups by Charles C. Hale, and wished you could go, but can’t make it to the city in time? Good news! There’s a NEW JERSEY branch event on September 27! It’s on a Thursday, too, which is a much better day for me– so I’ll be there for sure! This one’s organized by our own Mike Farragher.

The Irish American Writers and Artists are partnering with the Irish American Cultural institute to sponsor a monthly Writers and Artist Salon beginning Thursday September 27 from 7-9.

Writers eager to work out new material and/or practice reading in front of groups, Irish or Irish American singers looking to find an audience, poets looking to work out lines of their prose, playwrights eager to put parts of their plays through the paces, and non-writers and artists looking to get a peek into the cutting edge of talent from our culture are all welcome to join us. GREAT networking opportunity for artists!

Each performer is limited to 5-7 minutes and spaces are expected to fill up quickly. Admission is free. Anyone is welcome to bring their CDs or books to sell (bring change!), and a donation for the light refreshments is always appreciated.

We will then convene to Hennessy’s Washington Bar afterwards for drinks and tapas. 🙂

Please email Mike Farragher at irishwriter@optonline.net to reserve your space in the Salon!

The Irish American Cultural Institute is located at 1 Lackawanna Place in Morristown, NJ. 973-605-1991 It is right across from the NJ Transit station.
