[LIVESTREAM//Official] “Rays vs Blue Jays Live” Stream @free

September 29, 2020

ST. PETERSBURG — The Rays and Blue Jays will meet in the postseason for the first time during the Wild Card Series. That’s fitting considering this playoff format will be unlike anything we’ve seen in the history of the sport.

Though the franchises haven’t met in the postseason, they’re very familiar with each other, both on and off the field. On the field, the Rays won six of the 10 matchups this season, but the Blue Jays outscored Tampa Bay, 48-44.

Tuesday, Game 1: Blue Jays (Matt Shoemaker, 0-1, 4.71 ERA) at Rays (Blake Snell, 4-2, 3.24 ERA), 5 p.m. ET, TBS

Wednesday, Game 2: Blue Jays (Hyun-jin Ryu, 5-2, 2.69 ERA) at Rays (Tyler Glasnow, 5-1, 4.08 ERA), 4 p.m. ET, TBS

Thursday, Game 3 (if necessary): TBD

The Toronto Blue Jays announced Tuesday their 28-man active roster for their American League wild-card series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Among the key takeaways are the presence of first baseman and designated hitter Rowdy Tellez, who is recovering from a right knee strain, and the absence of reliever Jordan Romano, who has been sidelined since late August with a finger injury.

Tellez took batting practice Sunday and ran the bases during a workout Saturday, while Romano threw a live batting practice Sunday.

Only a 60-game season with an expanded playoffs format would give the Tampa Bay Rays a chance to win two-thirds of their games and the Toronto Blue Jays an opportunity to make the postseason with a core many believed to be a few years away.

Now, the two American League East foes meet in the one-seed vs. eight-seed matchup in a best-of-3 wild card series at Tropicana Field. The Rays won the season series 6-4, while the Jays bested them in run differential 48-44.
