Books: Kathy Callahan attends Yeats Winter School

Kathy Callahan in Sligo

How It’s New York: Kathy Callahan lives in NJ, and is often found at the IAWA Salons.
How It’s Irish: Kathy went off to Ireland to attend the W.B. Yeats Winter School in Sligo!

Recently Kathy Callahan scooted over to Sligo to attend the W.B. Yeats Winter School in Sligo!

I went as the lucky winner of the Yeats Society of NYC trip to  the W.B. Yeats Winter School in Sligo.

I had the time of my life!

The Sligo W.B. Yeats Winter School is designed as an interlude, for students of W.B. Yeats to learn more
about the poet and his poetry against the backdrop of Yeats
Country—from Benbulben to Knocknarea. These places are the source of his inspiration.

The aim of the weekend is to provide a basis for reading, exploring,
discussing and thinking about W.B. Yeats’s greatest achievements, in the
place where it all began.

Kathy with Irish Senator Susan O’Keefe and Ian Kennedy, Director Yeats-Sligo Society.

Poet Moya Cannon and Professor Margaret Harper, Limerick University, shared their scholarly research, insights and experience of W.B. Yeats with the group.
