Beoga – Let You Go and Live at Webster Hall

    Beoga
How it’s New York:Ā Live in performance at Webster Hall
How it’s Irish: Irish Trad/Pop Band Beoga

Last year I was lucky enough to get to meet and experience some of the contributions that Irish band Beoga made to Ed Sheeran‘s album “Ć·“.Ā  They gave their celtic flavor to the tunes “Galway Girl” and “Nancy Mulligan” and are now working towards their next release coming sometime later this year.Ā Ā

Friday June 7th marked the release of their latest single “Let You Go” featuring vocals byĀ Anderson East.Ā  You can watch the video or get a download hereĀ Let You Go.
It was great to see Beoga perform live with a sound that totally filled the house and got the crowd singing along to their first new single “Matthew’s Daughter” with a country feel and rich harmonies, augmented by the fantastic vocals of Niall McCabe.Ā  They ran through a few more instrumental tunes, with a definite trad feel to them, and also the current single “Let You Go”, which was also a winner with the crowd.

I sat down to speak with percussionist/singer Eamon Murray the next day and got a great intro to their approach to their sound and some of the current collaborations which have helped to shape it.Ā  You can hear the full interview in our next podcast, so be on the lookout.Ā  Eamon talks about some of their inspirations, and the inventive alternative directions that their music is taking.
