Made it to the banquet Saturday night at the CCE Fleadh, and sat at the Washington Square Harp and Shamrock Orchestra table– thinking at any moment I was going to have to leave but in the end they just put in another chair and I was allowed to stay. Whew! Thanks, Paul Keating. Of course I spent much of the banquet on my feet anyway taking pics– here’s the new inductees to the Hall of Fame: Don Meade, John Reynolds, Margie Mulvihill, and Jim McGinty (posthumously). Also honored were a group of former inductees– getting them all onstage at once proved a bit of a challenge, but it did happen! Included among them were Brian Conway, Mick Moloney, Mike Rafferty, Joanie Madden, Martin Mulhaire, Felix Dolan and Matty Connolly. Children all duded up sat and sometimes literally rolled on the floor with enthusiasm. Sessions took place afterwards in the Atrium, but it was hard to hear there, and I ended up in a hallway with Tom Dunne, Tony Horswill, Iris Nevins, James Cleveland and more. I didn’t intend to play but since Tom was playing the accordion I borrowed his fiddle for a bit. Know anyone in these pics?
