How It’s New York: All over the city and tristate, people are holding Oscar parties and watching together– Hollywood may be 3000 miles away, but the acting community hops back and forth. And of course, we all love the movies!
How It’s Irish: Writer/Director Terry George is from Northern Ireland, and his short “The Shore” was filmed there– with a cast and crew, as the voiceover told us, made up of family and friends.
What a thrill to have the winner in the short film category be “The Shore” be Terry George and Oorlagh George.
CONGRATULATIONS to them both!
His remarks:
“This is my daughter the producer,” he said as he bounded on stage with a lovely woman in blue, with braids in her hair. He went on to say, as she leaned her head on his shoulder,
“Our little film was inspired by the people of northern ireland, protestant and catholic, who after 30 years of war, sat down, negotiated a peace and rpoved to the world that the Irish are great talkers.
Another reason Why it’s New York…George screened “The Shore” last year at the New York-New Belfast Conference.
Also saw George read from Ulysses in NYC at last year’s “Bloomsday in Bryant Park”
