I inadvertently left this film out of my round-up yesterday, will add it to my list but meanwhile wanted to highlight it! I saw it today after The Swell Season (both press screenings), and enjoyed it. Orlando Bloom is easy on the eyes, even as a brunet, even playing a doctor who crosses boundary after boundary– he’s so hapless doing it that you keep feeling sorry for him anyway. Riley Keough, Elvis’ granddaughter, has amazing huge eyes (think you’ve seen her before? you have; she’s the Lee jeans model). Only Rush Tickets left except for May 1! This is the movie’s world premiere. I haven’t made it to any red carpets yet but Orlando was there yesterday (will try to make it to some this week!) Though the film is set in California, Daly himself is a product of Dublin and the Irish Film Orchestra plays…
THE GOOD DOCTOR
How It’s Irish: Lance Daly is a Dublin filmmaker, whose films include Last Days in Dublin and The Halo Effect.
When lonesome first-year medical resident Dr. Martin Blake (Orlando Bloom) finally gets the respect he so desperately craves from an enchanting teenage patient, he’ll do anything to keep her in his care…. In this slow-burn psychological thriller, Kisses director Lance Daly’s keen eye and a restrained yet forceful performance by Bloom paint a gripping portrait of the accelerating depths of obsession.
