The famed shutterbug who covered the everyday fashions of people on the streets of New York for decades, is the subject of a new documentary from Mark Bozek, with narration by Sarah Jessica Parker. The documentary features Cunningham in a 1994 interview filmed by Bozek, in which Cunningham talks about his early years with his disapproving Irish Catholic family, becoming a milliner in France during the Korean War, learning the craft of hat making that would launch his career and lead to his four decades at the New York Times. The documentary also includes photographs chosen from over 3 million previously unpublicized images and documents from the Cunningham’s archives. Until his death in 2016, Cunningham was a fixture in New York, tooling around town on a bike while wearing his signature blue jacket.
