This lecture by Prof. Joe Lee marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Irish Volunteers, the Irish nationalist movement whose membership split, with the majority fighting with the British in WWI and the minority becoming the Irish Republican Army, staging a rebellion in 1916 that was key to the establishment of the Irish national state.
