After more than 50 years of making some of the most beautiful music in the world The Chieftains continue to create a sound that remains as fresh and relevant as when they first began. The band is highly recognized for reinventing traditional Irish music on a contemporary and international scale. Their performances have been linked to historic events, such as being the first Western musicians to perform on the Great Wall of China and participating in Roger Waters’ The Wall performance in Berlin in 1990.
Since marrrying in 2002, Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy— two of Canada’s brightest stars– have been captivating audiences all over North America with their exceptional musical skills and obvious joy at playing the fiddle together. MacMaster, an award-winning musician from Cape Breton Island, has sold more than 200,000 albums. Leahy is the acclaimed former musical leader of the double platinum-selling, Celtic family group Leahy. They recently recorded together for the first time, producing the instrumental album One.
