This duo is string virtuosity squared. Harpist Máire, from west County Cork, pioneered a modern style that brought the repertoire and ornamentation of the dance music tradition to Ireland’s iconic instrument. Since 1987, she has partnered the enormously talented English guitarist Chris Newman in performances that fuse traditional melody and jazzy improvisation, grafting eclectic modern style onto folk roots.
