The newly moved Las Vegas Raiders take on the Carolina Panthers to open their 2020 season. The two did not play last year, so both teams will be facing a new challenge in their hopes of opening the year with a win under their belt. The Raiders finished with a losing record last season and look to bounce back and contend for an AFC West championship. The defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, will be their biggest threat to reaching the playoffs. They will have to take all the games they can to even have a chance at winning the division. On the other side, the Panthers finished dead last in the NFC South last season. After losing Cam Newton for the season, things took a turn. The NFC South will be full of talent this year with the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers looking like the favorites. Starting out the season on the right note will be important for having a look at the playoffs this year. Las Vegas Raiders Analysis
Oakland RaidersThe Raiders have something to prove this year after finishing with a 7-9 record last season (tied for 2nd in the AFC West). The Kansas City Chiefs will again be the team to beat in the division of which they failed to do both times last season. Offensively, there is only one real change. Derek Carr and Josh Jacobs return as the backbone of the offense. Darren Waller will most likely be the top target for Carr once again. The top two wide receivers from last season, Hunter Renfrow and Tyrell Williams also return. Where they are adding to their offense is with their selection of Henry Ruggs III. The Raiders have had great success in the past when taking a player from Alabama with their first-round pick (Amari Cooper 2015 and Josh Jacobs 2019). There are no serious injuries preventing the Raiders from playing to their potential this year. Where they will need to improve from last year the most in on defense. They gave up the 9th-most points last season while their offense could not put up enough to counteract it. Keeping that number down this year will be what they need to pick up some key wins this season, starting with the Panthers this week in a tough road matchup.

Carolina Panthers Analysis
Carolina PanthersThe Panthers possess the cheat code for the NFL with Christian McCaffrey. Whenever they needed a few yards last season, just hand the ball off or dump the ball to McCaffrey and he would almost guarantee whatever they needed. He was an absolute touchdown machine and was by far the best running back in the league last year. Nothing has appeared to change beyond the atmosphere that we all face in the world today. McCaffrey will come back to possibly improve on his monster season. There are a few changes that the Panthers saw during the offseason. Teddy Bridgewater is now taking over at quarterback after a few years of playing as the backup on various teams, mainly the Saints. It may take some time for him to fit back into the role as it has been a while since his time in Minnesota. To help give more options for Bridgewater, the Panthers have added Robby Anderson to bolster the wide receiver position. D.J. Moore, Curtis Samuel, and Robby Anderson are one of the best three trios on a team in the entire league. That added to McCaffrey is an almost unstoppable team. It will come down to how well Bridgewater can merge into the offense.

I would take the Panthers in every bet this week over the Raiders. I do not see a world in which Ruggs blows the Panthers’ defense up which is what is going to need to happen for them to win. Waller cannot carry the team offensively which is why they need some better receivers to pair up with him. On the other side of the ball, the Panthers have one of the best looking offenses in the league, and the Raiders possess one of the bottom-tier defenses in the league. Even if the Raiders could put up a decent amount of points, I expect the Panthers to be putting up tons and tons of points this week.
Daily Fantasy Picks
Darren Waller
Darren WallerDarren Waller finished the year with 1,145 receiving yards which ranked 2nd in the league for tight ends last season. There is no reason why that should not happen again this season. The Raiders still do not have an elite wide receiver on their team to take away targets which makes Waller the best option for Derek Carr again. The Panthers were fairly good at covering tight ends last season but never faced Waller and the Raiders or Kelce and the Chiefs. The only good tight end they faced was George Kittle who had 6 receptions for 86 yards. Waller will have everything he needs to perform this week. The only thing holding him back will be the Raiders’ inability to move the ball. If Carr can connect with Waller, he will be a dangerous threat for the Panthers this week.
Christian McCaffrey
christian mccaffreyAs the number one overall pick in most fantasy drafts, there will not come a game in which McCaffrey will not be expected to beat up the opposing defense. Even when the Panthers struggle, McCaffrey is there to give a boost to his fantasy owners. With an even better looking Panthers’ offense around him, there is no reason why McCaffrey will not at least get one touchdown this week. You can already mark up 100 yards as McCaffrey has almost made that a given from last year’s performances. He broke 1,000 yards in both rushing and receiving which an incredible feat. The man averaged 149.5 total yards per game. McCaffrey is no joke this year.
D.J. Moore
D.J. MooreD.J. Moore hit the 1,000-yard marker last season as a great improvement from his rookie season in 2018. In the back half of the season, time and time again Moore scored double-digit fantasy points with at least 5 receptions every game. Where Moore lacked last season was in the touchdown department. For the number of targets he got, it is surprising that he did not have more which only means that we can expect more this season. He was already a higher tiered receiver averaging 15.4 FPG, so there is no reason why he should not be starting each and every game this season. The addition of Robby Anderson will take minimal targets away from him as Greg Olsen is gone to the Seahawks.
