Georgia Southern opened the season last weekend with 33 players on the inactive list. The Eagles edged Campbell 27-26 without the services of several players that either tested positive for COVID-19 or were forced to sit out due to contact tracing.
If Florida Atlantic is forced to opt out of Saturday’s game in Statesboro due to positive test results and contact tracing discovered this week, the Owls would also be forced to cancel their September 26 game against South Florida.
FAU is coached by Willie Taggart, who served as head coach at South Florida from 2013-2016.
Saturday’s game between Georgia Southern and FAU is scheduled to kickoff at 3:30 p.m. and be broadcast live on ESPN.
