Friday 10 April, 8 pm: Legends Series concert featuring Martin & Eliza Carthy
Martin Carthy is one of folk music’s greatest innovators, one of its best loved, most enthusiastic and, at times, most quietly controversial of figures. His skill, stage presence and natural charm have won him many admirers, not only from within the folk scene, but also far beyond it. His daughter, Eliza, is a truly inventive and innovative singer and fiddle-player, and a gifted musical conceptualist. She is arguably, the most impressive and engaging performer of a generation. Last year, they released a CD together,The Moral of the Elephant. At St. John’s Church, 81 Christopher Street, Manhattan. Contribution: general public, $25; members, $20; fulltime students and children under 15, $15.
