No one quite owns Roland Garros like Nadal who would win his record 13th French Open title with a victory on Sunday. The 34-year-old has yet to drop a set in six matches. He reached the final by beating 12th-seeded Diego Schwartzman. A win on Sunday would push Nadal’s career record in the French Open to 100-2.

The 12-time champion at French Open withstood an early challenge from 19-year-old Jannik Sinner and pulled away to win 7-6 (4), 6-4, 6-1 in a quarterfinal that ended at nearly 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday on a windy night with the temperature in the low 50s (ten degrees Celsius).

Their quarterfinal began after 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday. It was the last match of the day on a packed schedule at Court Philippe Chatrier, which included five contests instead of the usual four because one was postponed by rain a day earlier. And Nadal-Sinner also was delayed by No. 12 seed Diego Schwartzman’s five-hour, five-set victory over No. 3 Dominic Thiem.

The 2020 French Open tennis tournament continues on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 (9/29/20) with the first round of the competition at Roland Garros in Paris, France. The tournament concludes on Sunday, October 11, 2020 (10/11/20) with the men’s final.
