The New England Patriots have been in a similar position to the one they in going into Week 4. During the 2017 season in fact. The Patriots offense and defense are off to very slow starts this season. The lack of the credible threat at wide receiver have limited quarterback Tom Brady’s options as opposing defenses focus on tight end Rob Gronkowski. The Patriots (1-2) don’t have much of a running game, they have yet to score a rushing touchdown this season.
The New England Patriots look to bounce back in Week 4 as they return home to Gillette Stadium to face off with the Miami Dolphins.

The New England Patriots are off to an uncharacteristic 1-2 start. After defeating the Houston Texans in Week 1, the Patriots have lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions on the road. Now, they will be returning home to face off with the surprising, 3-0 Miami Dolphins.

It would be foolish to count out the defending AFC champs after three games. They started the 2017 season with a 2-2 record, but finished 13-3 and reached Super Bowl 52. However, the game against the Dolphins is big; a loss would put them three games behind Miami.

The Dolphins (3-0) used smoke and mirrors to defeat the Oakland Raiders. Wide receiver Albert Wilson threw a 52-yard touchdown pass and he also caught a 74-yard touchdown pass. The combined record of the teams the Dolphins have defeated isn’t stellar, but they sit in first place in the AFC East.

The Dolphins are also the only unbeaten to play their first two games at home. They’ll travel to New England and Cincinnati in the next two weeks. We’ll find out if the Dolphins are a serious threat to end the Patriots dominance of the division.
The Miami Dolphins (3-0), led by quarterback Ryan Tannehill, meet the New England Patriots (1-2), led by quarterback Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski, in an AFC East, Week 4 NFL football game on Sunday, September 30, 2018 (9/30/18) at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Facing off with an AFC East rival is always a tall task. This time around, it will be even tougher as the Dolphins are playing some good football at the moment. While their competition hasn’t been overly difficult, they have still managed to win the games.

The Patriots are off to an unexpected 1-2 start, securing their sole win of the season in Week 1 against the Texans. QB Tom Brady and his team look to recover from back-to-back losses to the Jaguars and then the Lions with a win over Miami at home this weekend. Brady completed just 14 of 26 for 133 yards in Detroit. The team’s lone touchdown came in the third quarter, when Brady attempted to stage a second half comeback. The Patriots were unable to recover from their 10 point deficit before the Lions added six more points to the score with two field goals in the fourth quarter.

This is an important game for both teams. New England is looking to get things back on track and snap their losing streak. Their dominance over the AFC East has lasted the better part of two decades, but that could be in jeopardy if they are unable to defeat the Dolphins.

Miami, on the other hand, wants to keep their strong season going. Showing up, in Gillette Stadium nonetheless, would go a long way for their confidence this season. Taking on and playing up to the level of the Patriots is something rarely accomplished.
New England looks to secure their second win of the season at home this weekend, while Miami hopes to remain undefeated.
