Lankum are busy breathing new life into old music. The Dublin band combine distinctive four-part vocal harmonies with arrangements of uilleann pipes, concertina, accordion, fiddle and guitar. Their repertoire spans humorous Dublin music-hall ditties and street-songs, classic ballads from the Traveller tradition, traditional Irish and American dance tunes, and their own original material.
They are coming to New York in January and will be performing in Brooklyn at Rough Trade on SATURDAY JANUARY 5TH.
Lankum is one of the most talked about bands to come out of Ireland in decades. Rough Trade released their second critically acclaimed album Between The Earth And Sky last fall. Since then, Lankum have won and been nominated for multiple awards (Best Group & Best Song wins at the BBC Folk Awards, Album Of The Year nomination at Folk Alliance, and just a couple of months ago they won Best Folk Group and Radie Peat won Best Folk Singer at the inaugural RTE Radio 1 Folk Awards.
