Come join us to celebrate the release of ‘Island Wild’ the Iona Scottish Session CD at Jalopy Theatre and School of Music. We’ve invited our friends from some of the great traditional music sessions of New York to perform and then play for called Contra, Scottish and Irish dancing and invite YOU to come down for top night of performance and dancing to live music. No experience required – all the dances will be demonstrated. A ceilidh is a grow-your-own night of music, singing, dancing and general merriment with fun intensified by liberal gargles of warming libations. Ours will have performance sets from representatives of some of the great NY sessions, and then dancing, with the performers forming the dance band. Mary Abdill is dance instructor and caller for Scottish dancing, Siobhan Butler will call Irish sets, and Glenfiddich champion fiddler, Calum Pasqua will lead the band. Henry Tenney and JR Strauss will MC. Whisky provided by Laphroaig.
