From Violin to Fiddle – How to Play Irish Reels

This event is going to focus on how you can think about and use bowing to tackle the simplest or the most complex reel, and also tips for sessions. We will also learn a tune composed by local fiddler Joe Moran.

This is a group class for fiddle, part of a series designed for Adults and Young Adults, and in particular current violin students looking to develop another aspect of their musical life. The series focuses on learning tunes by ear (though written music can be made available on request), appreciation of tune (dance) forms, traditional tune structures, ornamentation basics. It will particular it help those with an end goal of playing in sessions.

The series provides a roadmap, but each class is designed so that it stands alone in its own right.
