Traditional Irish music from two masters from Counties Clare and Waterford are touring the USA in support of a new CD launched this summer called “The Sunny Banks”. Clare native Edel Fox is one of Ireland’s leading concertina players and teachers who taught and performed at the prestigious Catskills Irish Arts Week for six years and annually at the Willie Clancy Summer School in her native Miltown Malbay. In 2004 at age of 18 she won the coveted Young Traditional Musician of the Year Award (TG4) and went on to receive a BA in Irish Traditional Music Performance and an MA in Music Therapy from the University of Limerick. Neill Byrne is from Ferrybank, County Waterford playing the fiddle from age 5 in a musical household and being influenced by the venerable County Wexford composer and fiddler John Dwyer and has toured throughout Europe. The tandem have been playing together for three years and are among the most exciting young musicians in Ireland and they look forward to sharing their stylish brand of traditional Irish music in the intimate artistic setting of the Irish Repertory Theatre.
