How it’s New York: Irish Arts Center has established itself as a multicultural center reflecting the city.
How it’s Irish: Declan O’Rourke is an irish singer-songwriter, who has recently been embracing that identity more and more.
Declan made his name as a folk-rock busker along with Mundy, Damien Dempsey and Paddy Casey and he’s been praised worldwide for his richly resonant voice, beautifully crafted songs and a characteristic audience-friendly brand of acoustic pop, that has brought him multi-platinum success in Ireland. He has toured extensively in Europe opening for the likes of Paul Weller, Snow Patrol, and Paul Brady. Today he is one of Ireland’s most sought after live performers and his song “Galileo” has been covered by a diverse range of artists from folk singer Eddi Reader to superstar Josh Groban. Join us as Declan sings and plays with a gorgeous string quartet, performing new material from his highly-anticipated fourth album and songs from his masterpieces Mag Pai Zai (2011), Big Bad Beautiful World (2007) and Since Kyabram (2004). Declan is at Irish Arts Center April 28.
