How it’s New York: Frances Black is playing tonight at Gavin’s Country Inn in the Catskills, and tomorrow night in New York City, at the New York Irish Center.
How it’s Irish: Frances Black is from Dublin, and is part of the famous Black Family, that includes siblings Shay, Michael, Mary and Martin. She sang with them when she was only 17.
The bad news: tomorrow’s concert with Frances Black at the New York Irish Center is sold out. Though it may be worth contacting them to see if there is a wait-list.
Good news? Tonight’s show in East Durham still has places available, and you’ve plenty of time to get there– it’s only a few hours away. Dinner is at 6 and the show is at 8.
Kitty Kelly, a musician herself who lives up there, says it will be an intimate setting in East Durham and well worth the trip!
And you might want to make a weekend of it.
Friday night I’Kitty is playing at the Blackthorne Resort from 9 pm until ?? featuring Tony DeMarco on fiddle! Then, Saturday is the Catskill Feis at the Blackthorne. Saturday she’s back at Gavin’s, featuring Buddy Connolly on accordion.
Sunday is the Irish Festival at Gavin’s starting at 11 am with mass. All day music, food and fun featuring more than 20 acts under a big tent.
She writes,
“This Festival is a fundraiser to help my cousin Jimmy get his Irish play/musical off the ground.”
